iiCON’s £174 million collaborative programme brings together industry, academia, and clinicians to accelerate the discovery, development and deployment of new treatments and products – saving and improving millions of lives through collaborative innovation. Led by LSTM, its partner members are Unilever, Evotec, Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust, University of Liverpool, and Infex Therapeutics.
iiCON’s new website at www.infectioninnovation.com showcases the Innovation Journey that the consortium offers industry partners across its ten specialist research platforms – taking users through the journey from conception to adoption that iiCON supports and accelerates for companies of all sizes, from start-ups to industry giants.
The site will support engagement with key stakeholders including researchers, academic institutes, and companies looking to work with iiCON to drive forward product development, while providing a platform for connecting and communicating with wider regional, national and sector stakeholders.
The website was designed and developed by North West branding, web design and marketing agency, Studio Coact.
The consortium has also published its first annual report – covering activity and achievements over the last 12 months.
Professor Janet Hemingway, iiCON Director, said: “Since launching in September 2020, iiCON has experienced significant growth and we’re delighted to be launching our new website, which will act as a valuable platform to connect with our audiences across industry, academia, and the clinical world – while supporting engagement with our broader regional, national, and sector stakeholders.
“We’re also very pleased to have published our first annual report, which provides an engaging overview of our programme and the activity we have delivered over the last 12 months. We look forward to continuing to develop our communications platforms and channels of engagement and reaching new audiences as the programme evolves and expands.”
Founded with an £18.6 million government grant provided through UK Research and Innovation’s flagship Strength in Places Fund, iiCON raised an additional £154.9 million in public and private investment in its first year.
Over the last 12 months, the consortium has launched collaborative partnerships with over 186 UK SMEs and start-ups alongside projects with global industry giants including Pfizer and Unilever. It has created 176 new high-value jobs across the North West and invested £9.4 million in local capacity and workforce development.
